Watchible, Inc.

Privacy Policy

Last updated:

How Watchible handles information when you visit our website, join the launch list, or use the app.

Who we are

Watchible, Inc. operates Watchible. This policy covers our website, launch list, and app, including features available during beta testing. The information we process depends on the features you use; some features may not yet be available to every member.

For privacy questions or requests, email admin@watchible.app. You can also write to Watchible, Inc., 306 W Redwood St #4844, Baltimore, MD 21201, United States. This is our public mailing address.

Our website and launch list

When you join the launch list, we collect your email address so we can contact you about Watchible's launch. We also record when and where you signed up, repeat signup counts, the referring page, and browser information. Our signup system may retain a hashed version of your IP address to help prevent abuse. Hosting and security services also process technical request information, such as IP addresses and request logs, to serve and protect the website.

Joining the list does not create an app account. To leave the list or request removal of your signup information, email admin@watchible.app from the address you used. You can also use an unsubscribe link when one is provided in a launch email.

Information we collect in the app

  • Account information: your email, username, account ID, authentication information, eligibility confirmation, and records of policy acceptance and permissions.
  • Profile and preferences: your display name, bio, avatar or profile banner, location you choose to add, region, time zone, preferred streaming services, privacy choices, and notification settings. Where available, this includes streaming plan details you enter, such as service prices and billing preferences.
  • Movies, TV, and social activity: your Queue, Seen It history, Favorites, ratings, recommendation feedback, follows, blocks, Takes, replies, reactions, Rooms participation, Blend activity, messages, and reports. If you use a watch-history import feature, we process the history you provide.
  • Searches and AI interactions: search text, AI prompts, relevant search context, results, and feedback. Search and feedback records can be associated with your account.
  • Device, usage, and diagnostics: device or installation identifiers, push tokens, device name, operating system, app version, session identifiers, interactions such as views and taps, network request information including IP addresses, and performance or crash information.
  • Membership and support: membership status and, when purchases are available, transaction information supplied by the purchase platform; communications and information you send when asking for help or making a privacy or safety report.
  • Taste inferences: preferences and recommendation signals derived from your choices and activity, including taste profiles and compatibility signals.

How we use information

We use this information to create and secure accounts; save your collections and preferences; find and recommend movies and TV; personalize discovery and taste compatibility; provide social features; deliver the notifications you request; manage memberships; and respond to support requests.

We also use activity, search feedback, and diagnostics to understand how features work, improve relevance and reliability, manage service costs and usage limits, prevent abuse, investigate reports, and enforce our community rules. These records are not all anonymous: some are linked to an account, device, or session.

What other people can see

Watchible includes social features. Your username and basic profile information can be visible to other people even when your account is private. A private profile requires approval of new followers; it does not make your account invisible.

Your profile and collection settings control access to features such as Favorites, Queue, Seen It, activity, and taste information. Takes, replies, and Rooms conversations can be visible to other members according to the audience and privacy rules of that feature. Review the available settings before sharing information you want to keep private.

Blend messages and shared picks are available to the conversation's participants. Messages are stored and processed by Watchible; they are not end-to-end encrypted. Authorized access may be needed for support, safety reports, or legal obligations. Participants may save or share what they receive outside Watchible.

Unsending a message removes its text from the conversation display, but the original text may remain in our records for moderation and safety. Unsending a message and deleting your account are different actions.

Service providers and AI processing

We use outside services to operate Watchible. Depending on the feature and services enabled, these include Supabase for accounts, databases, and storage; Vercel for hosting; AWS for email and infrastructure; hosting and background-processing services for scheduled updates and notifications; Expo and Apple or Google for push delivery; and Sentry for crash diagnostics. Catalog and media services, including TMDB, provide title information and artwork. These services receive information needed for their role, which can include request information when your device loads their content.

AI-powered search and related features can send your request text and relevant context to third-party AI providers, including Anthropic, OpenAI, and TypeSafe AI. Context can include the search you are refining, movie or TV information, and preferences relevant to that request. More than one provider may process a request. We also retain search and feedback records for the purposes described above.

When automated content moderation is enabled, authored content and relevant conversation context may be sent to OpenAI or Anthropic to help identify policy violations. Moderation can also involve human review. Avoid including private information in prompts or posts that is not needed for the feature.

AI providers process transmitted information under the applicable service arrangements. Their retention and processing practices can vary by provider and feature. Contact us if you need information about a particular interaction or provider.

Trailers and external services

Watchible uses YouTube API Services and YouTube's embedded player for trailers. Loading or playing a trailer allows YouTube and Google to receive device and playback information, such as your IP address, device or browser details, the video requested, and playback events. YouTube content may also use cookies or similar technologies and include advertising. See the Google Privacy Policy and YouTube Terms of Service.

When you open a streaming service, external website, or another app from Watchible, that service handles information under its own privacy policy. Its practices may differ from ours.

Other sharing and advertising

We may disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with the law, respond to lawful requests, protect people or the service, investigate abuse, or establish or defend legal rights. If Watchible is involved in a merger, acquisition, or transfer of its business, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to applicable protections.

We do not currently sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. Programmatic advertising is not currently enabled. Free plans may include clearly labeled contextual sponsored placements; impressions and interactions can be recorded to operate and measure those placements. We will update this policy and the relevant app-store disclosures before making a materially different use of personal information for advertising, and obtain permission where required.

Cookies and local storage

Watchible uses cookies and local device storage for functions such as sign-in sessions, security, saved preferences, and cached app content. Blocking or clearing them can sign you out or reset local preferences. Third-party content, including YouTube trailers, may use its own cookies or similar technologies as described above.

Watchible does not currently change its operation in response to a browser's Do Not Track signal. Third-party content providers such as YouTube may recognize your browser or device across their services, depending on their technologies and your settings. Their privacy policies explain those practices and controls.

How long we keep information

Retention depends on the record and its purpose. Account information, collections, preferences, and content generally remain while your account is active, unless removed earlier. We keep launch-list records to manage launch communications and your signup preferences; you can request removal without creating an account. Search logs, diagnostics, caches, and safety records have different retention needs and cleanup schedules.

You can initiate account deletion in the app under Account → Privacy & Safety. Deletion removes account access and starts removal of associated account data and content. If cleanup or verification needs more time, the app reports that cleanup is pending and the service retries it. See Delete your account for instructions and help if you cannot sign in.

Minimal deletion-request records are scheduled for removal 24 months after the request, once processing has finished. Unresolved cleanup requests may need to remain until they are resolved. Limited records may also be retained when needed for legal obligations, security, fraud prevention, or unresolved safety matters. Removing content from a screen does not necessarily erase every operational record immediately, or remove copies another person has saved outside Watchible.

Where backup copies are maintained for recovery, deleted information may remain in those restricted copies until they are replaced or expire under the applicable backup schedule. Backup retention can differ from retention in the active service.

Your choices and privacy requests

  • Update your profile, streaming preferences, and available privacy controls in the app.
  • Manage alert preferences in the app and push permissions in your device settings.
  • Use an email's unsubscribe option when available, or contact us to stop optional emails.
  • Use the app's account-deletion control or contact us if you need help.

You can email admin@watchible.app to request access to, a copy of, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, or to ask about withdrawing a permission. We may need to verify your identity and the scope of the request before acting. Available legal rights and exceptions depend on where you live and the laws that apply. If you disagree with our response, reply to request a review.

Security and processing locations

We use safeguards such as encrypted connections, authentication, and access controls to protect information. Authorized personnel and service providers may process information as needed to operate, support, and protect Watchible. No system can guarantee absolute security. Watchible is operated from the United States; outside services may process information in the countries where they operate.

Age requirement

Watchible is for people 16 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child under 16 has provided personal information or created an account, contact us so we can investigate and remove it as appropriate.

Changes to this policy

We will post changes here and update the date above. For material changes, we will provide additional notice or request permission when required. The Terms of Service describe the rules for using Watchible.
